Book Review: Wisdom of Fools: Stories of Extraordinary Lives

Wisdom of Fools: Stories of Extraordinary Lives, by Phil Harvey:

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

This author had moments of interesting descriptive skill but I found the stories always ended leaving you unsatisfied, and this series of short stories as a whole was of a negative vein. I am an optimist by nature and found no redemptive moral to the story. The characters each had a story or problem, and there was no real clear closure or resolution, but were often left hanging. I would not likely read this author again.  2 stars out of 5.

Free Books in Exchange for Reviews

I have found several sites now that offer free books for an honest review. My next post will be a review of the first book I received from one of those, but in case others would like to do the same, I wanted to post links to the ones I've found.  (On at least one, the books are an advanced copy before it was even released, which it exciting.)

https://storycartel.com/  (So far, they don't have a large selection in the genres I want, but we'll see where it goes)

https://www.netgalley.com/ (Note: is for media, librarians, booksellers, educators, reviewers and bloggers , hence the reason I started this blog!  :)  )

http://www.bloggingforbooks.com/  I've finished one book from them and my second one is on its way being shipped to me atm. So far I like this site a lot.

Also, here's a link to a site with free ebooks , but they don't require a review of the book. Downloads in epub format.:

http://tuebl.ca/   **Update: they have changed their name to http://ebook.bike/  but the tuebl link will, for now, redirect you.

All bibliophiles, enjoy! If you know of any others like the books with a review, or other fantastic ebook sites that don't require a review, leave me a comment!

Hello All!

This is my new blog. Welcome and I hope my posts interest all of you.  Welcome to my reading corner! I have joined an ebook community called NetGalley that shares free ebooks before they are released, if you are a professional reader, ie (from their website):

"Do you love to discover new books? Do you review and recommend books online, in print, for your bookstore, library patrons, blog readers, or classroom? Then you are what we call a "professional reader," and NetGalley is for you. Registration is free, and allows you to request or be invited to read titles, often advance reading copies, on your favorite device.
Are you a publisher, author, or PR professional launching a new title, series or season? NetGalley offers a way to provide secure, digital versions of your titles to our community of professional readers, and your own contacts.
Our imperative is to design programs and features that help professional readers be effective influencers, and provide more information to publishers about how early reading ignites buzz and promotes sales."

I get a good book and the author generates readership, a buzz about their books and good word of mouth.

This suits me well as I have been an avid reader since a child.

Hope you all enjoy!  Ciao for now!
